Mary Pennington

Zak Kennedy|Wed 17 Apr 2019

It is with a very heavy heart that we inform the Eastern Ranges and wider football communities that Eastern Ranges Life Member - Mary Pennington passed away yesterday evening at home suddenly but peacefully.

Mary is a 25 year Life Member of the Eastern Ranges along with her husband and fellow Life Member, Alf.

The Penningtons have been the backbone of the Eastern Ranges and held the club together for a significant period of time, doing everything from business operations, organising events, football operations, timekeeping, meals, canteens, fundraising and just about anything else you can think of.

Our U18 Boys Best and Fairest award is named the “Pennington Medal” in Alf and Mary’s honour as recognition for all they have done for our club over a long period of time.

To this day, Alf still does timekeeping for our boys’ games and Mary has been coming in each Thursday to do the opposition magnets for our U18 Boys.

Mary just loved to contribute.

As we pay tribute to Mary, we remember an incredible lady who has brought so much value to the Eastern Ranges and has had a significant impact on so many people throughout her time with us.

We extend our condolences and deepest sympathy to Alf and the Pennington family at this difficult time.
