MATCH REPORT (GIRLS) - R9 vs SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS

EASTERN RANGES - 3.1.19

SANDRINGHAM DRAGONS - 3.5.23

Our U18 girls travelled to Sandringham to face the Dragons, with finals matchups and ladder placement on the line.

Eastern were the first goal scorers on the board, before Sandringham replied just before quarter time to take the lead 1.2.8 to 1.0.6.

The home side then took control in the second quarter, making most of the chances but not quite putting the game to bed. At the main break Eastern trailed by nine points.

Neither team scored a goal in the third quarter, which probably favoured Sandringham as time was running out for an Eastern comeback.

The Ranges outscored the Dragons in the final quarter, two goals to one, but it was not enough to stage a memorable come-from-behind win. In the end, the final margin was just four points

Best players were Emma Horne, Tarni Brown, Madeline Edwards, Tahlia Merrett, Jenna Richardson, and Serena Gibbs.

Goalkickers were:

S Gibbs

M Hardy

C Wilsmore

The defeat sees Eastern slip to fourth place, with six wins and three losses.

The next match is the Preliminary Final on Saturday, May 18, against the minor premiers, Northern Knights. The game starts at 12:30PM at Shepley Oval, Dandenong.
