MATCH REPORT (GIRLS) – R3 V TASMANIA DEVILS

EASTERN RANGES – 10.6.66

TASMANIA DEVILS – 1.3.9

The Eastern Ranges Under 18 Girls enjoyed their first win for the season with an emphatic 57 point win against the Tasmania Devils at Kilsyth Recreation Reserve.

Bouncing back strong from their Round 1 loss, the Ranges took a one point lead into quarter time before kicking nine unanswered goals all while keeping Tasmania goalless from the first break.

While the Ranges only managed to kick one goal each in the first and third terms, they enjoyed patches of dominance in the second quarter recording 17 inside 50s to zero, kicking four goals in both the second and fourth terms.

Head coach Chris Pope said his side were disappointed with their Round 1 performance and that winning their first game at Kilsyth Recreation Reserve was a great way to make amends.

“It was a good way for the Girls to regroup after having the week off,” he said.

Isabelle Khoury starred kicking three goals to go along with her 12 disposals, while Tarni Brown put in another impressive performance kicking 1.1, while leading her teammates in marks (4) all players in disposals (28) and an equal game high in tackles (6).

Pope said he was impressed with Khoury, who played on-ball for the first half before going forward to kick her three goals in the second half.

“She (Khoury) had a very good day out… And Tarni has absolutely gone to another level for us this year,” he said.

“Gabby Woods debuted as a bottom-ager and she did really well for us.

Olivia Meagher contributed 27 disposals in the win, while Georgia Campbell and Cassy Wilsmore dominated the ruck efforts combining for 44 hitouts to the Devils total of 15.

“Liv Meagher does her usual business. Her defensive pressure is huge for us, as well as her attacking side.”

Isabelle Pollock and Jade Hutchinson also made their Under 18 NAB League Girls Debut. Pollock was unlucky not to kick a goal on debut, managing two behinds, but equalled Meagher in a game high six tackles.
