The Club

About

The Eastern Ranges is a NAB League football team, comprised of the most promising junior footballers from across the greater eastern area of Melbourne. The club runs selective programs to prepare players to take the next step into senior and professional football.

History

Established in 1992, the Eastern Ranges has competed in the NAB League (formally TAC Cup) for over 25 years. The club has a strong history of developing players with over 100 drafted onto AFL and AFLW lists, including recent number one draft pick Tom Boyd & 2018 NAB AFL Rising Star Jaidyn Stephenson. Other notable draftees include Sam Mitchell, Rory Sloane, Christian Petracca, Kade Simpson, Jonathon Patton and Mikala Cann.

Staff

Led by Talent Operations Lead, Danny Ryan, the Eastern Ranges have a staff base of more than 60 people. The vast majority of these are dedicated volunteers of all ages and specialties from high performance to property management.

Pathways

New to the club

Whether you're a new parent or volunteer, we are excited to have you as part of this special club. We have provided documents on the club's expectations from all of our members.

Player expectations

We hold high expectations of our players at the Eastern Ranges. From coaching to high performance programs, we give players the tools to live an elite sports life.

Male pathway

The Eastern Ranges have two main programs: the U17 Futures Squad and the U19 NAB League Boys. We also run two smaller programs to help develop players and give them an insight into how the club operates and what they need to do to further their football careers: U14 Development Day and U15 Next Generation Squad. However, players may be selected to join any squad at any time.

Female pathway

Launched in 2015, The Eastern Ranges Girls squad has three tiers of leagues; the U15 Girls Interleague Metro Championships, U17 Futures Squad and U19 NAB League Girls. Each squad aims to develop female players by providing high level sporting opportunities. In 2018, we had our first ever AFLW Draftees in Mikala Cann (Collingwood), Charlotte Wilson & Emerson Woods (Carlton).

Get Involved

Internships & volunteering

The Eastern Ranges requires interns and volunteers to drive the club throughout the year. We are always seeking suitable candidates in both football and administrative areas such as high performance, training, rehabilitation, physio, media and football operations. Internships are most often completed by university students in their 2nd and 3rd year, recently graduated or currently studying a Masters.

Career opportunities

Not only do the Eastern Ranges provide a pathway for players, but also for staff seeking opportunities in the elite football industry.
